Harvest Information

A cool, wet winter in 2023 provided excellent soil moisture reserves. The growing season was marked by warm, dry, and often windy conditions, which kept disease pressure low but made careful vineyard management essential. Irrigation was crucial during the hot January period to ensure optimal ripening. While yields were lower than average, the resulting fruit displayed
exceptional concentration and quality

Winemaking

This Pinotage is sourced from one of the oldest surviving bush-vine blocks in
Franschhoek – a rare site that consistently delivers both distinctive volume and exceptional quality. The 2024 vintage has been noted for its small bunches, reduced crop yields, and extraordinary flavour.

Winemaker's Note

The hand-harvested grapes were destemmed and retained as whole berries to preserve purity of fruit and varietal expression. Fermentation took place in stainless steel tanks, with punch-downs performed three times daily to ensure gentle yet thorough extraction of colour, flavour and fine tannins. Following fermentation, the wine was pressed off the skins and transferred to barrel for 12 months in a selection of French oak, of which 15% was new.

Cellaring

Drinkable now, can mature for up to 2028.
